About me
Hi! My name is Ximena. I am a clinical psychologist, teacher and mindfulness practitioner. I am from Mexico City and I am currently studying my PhD. I love nature and its healing power when combined with mindfulness; therefore, in this webpage I want to share with you tips, videos and audios that also have elements of these two, to help you to promote your health and well-being.
Professional Story
Currently, Ximena Tiscareño is a Ph.D student of the Technische Universität München (TUM). She is part of GoGreenRoutes, a research project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Innovation action programme. The project aims to implement nature-based solutions in six European cities to foster urban health and well-being by promoting connectedness with nature. In addition, she is a Research Assistant of the Sport Psychology Department of TUM. In her free time, she studies Mindfulness and its relationship with Nature.
Personal Story
I wish I could share with you a breathtaking story about how I came to know the world of mindfulness and the research surrounding this matter and the contact with nature; yet, at this point, I can only say that what I call “life” and its inherent difficulties are the reasons that led me there.
When I was 16, I discovered my passion for psychology and my yearning to understand the inner turmoil we all experience. For that very reason I decided to pursue an academic degree in this topic. Along with this, at the age of 26, I suffered a harsh accident in which I nearly lost my life. This incident brought along a number of years of rehabilitation, which in turn made me experience one of the most difficult challenges I have ever faced. This “existential rebirth” is precisely what led me little by little into discovering the mighty healing power of nature and mindfulness.
Those who know me well are aware of how much I defy our current system. In essence, I feel that our society lacks much compassion and solidarity. We haven’t been able to create a space where we can truly flourish as human beings, where we are not inexorably surrounded by stress, nervousness, competition, judgment, egoism, and fear.
This inner rebellion against our current system, along with the very difficult and bitter experiences I endured, helped me discover that healing can be found in “going back to our core… to our origin, that is, in returning to nature and to ourselves”.
I believe that meditation and nature are key, accessible aspects that improve our life experience. Therefore, in this webpage I want to share tools that might prove useful for all of us to enhance and smoothen our life path.
